India Named ‘Country of the Year’ at BIOFACH 2026 in Germany

India has been honoured as the ‘Country of the Year’ at BIOFACH 2026, the world’s largest trade fair for organic products, currently being held in Nuremberg, Germany. The event will conclude on February 13. This recognition marks India’s return to the global spotlight in organic farming after a gap of 14 years.

India’s participation, organised by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), includes a 1,074 square-metre pavilion featuring 67 co-exhibitors. These include exporters, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), and representatives from state governments.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry stated that India’s presence at the fair showcases its strong agricultural legacy and its growing role as a major supplier of organic produce worldwide.

The India Pavilion is displaying a diverse range of organic products such as rice, pulses, oilseeds, spices, herbs, cashew, ginger, turmeric, cardamom, cinnamon, mango pulp, and essential oils.

Participants from over 20 States and Union Territories are part of the exhibition, highlighting the country’s rich regional and agricultural diversity.
