INDIA THRASHES THE KIWIS 4-1, JUST A WEEK BEFORE THE WORLD CUP
Kolkata January 31st 2026: Suryakumar Yadav & co. thrashed a 4-1 defeat to the Blackcap Kiwis. Though the experts had already predicted the result before the series as India as a t20 unit looked more complete and composed that New Zealand. Arguably this is the best team that India can afford to play in the World Cup and by far looks invincible. Moreover Tilak Verma is all set to return in the World Cup replacing Shreyas Iyer which will make the team stronger. Everyone player even on the bench and reserves got tested in the series and everyone is in good form. Sanju Samson’s bad patch maybe a big question, but that may not translate to a big issue when Tilak joins the squad. Ishan can be promoted to the opening spot and Tilak can play at 3 and rest accordingly. It’ll be interesting to see what spin combination does India use, because Axar Patel is most likely to play as he is already the Vice-Captain of the team.
Will they go for a 3-spinner attack or a 2-spinner attack that will be a thing to watch. The only grey side that can be pointed out which got exposed in the fourth match was the lack of anchoring players when wickets stumble on one end. But once Tilak comes back he will bring more stability in the batting order. The bowling attack also looks on point with Bumrah, Arshdeep and Harshit as our main pacers with Hardik and Shivam as ou backups. On the other hand, this Kiwi team looked too much unprepared and weak against this team. The players al no doubtless very good an individually great athletes but the kind of mindset they hold is not at all suitable for T20is, especially where T20 as a format has evolved.
