Ganga Riverfront Revamp: World Bank-Backed Project to Transform North 24 Parganas’ Rani Rasmoni Ghat

West Bengal’s transport department is set to launch a mega project to revamp the Ganga riverfront in North 24 Parganas, specifically from Rani Rasmoni Ghat to Khardah. The project, backed by the World Bank, aims to transform the riverfront’s appearance and improve its overall infrastructure.
The Kolkata Port Trust has already initiated work on the Ganga riverbank conservation project, starting from Jagannath Ghat to Baranagar Kunti Ghat. This move comes as several ghats along the river, including Kumar Tuli Ghat, Nimtala Ghat, and Jagannath Ghat, have been experiencing erosion, with parts of the riverbank crumbling.
The project is expected to not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the riverfront but also address the issue of erosion and provide better facilities for locals and tourists alike.
