At Singur Rally, PM Urges Support To BJP Citing Law and Order Concerns

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing an election rally in Singur on Sunday, criticised the Trinamool Congress Government in West Bengal, alleging a serious decline in women’s safety and overall law and order in the state. He claimed that crimes against women and incidents of violence reflect a breakdown of governance under the current administration.

The Prime Minister urged voters to support the BJP in the upcoming elections, starting that a change in government was necessary to prevent incidents such as those reported from Sandeshkhali and cases like the RG Kar rape and murder of a young medical professional. He also accused the state government of allowing corruption and mafia influence to affect the education system.

Referring to Sandeshkhali, where allegations of sexual exploitation and land grabbing emerged earlier this year, Modi said such incidents should not be repeated in Bengal. He further pointed to the nationwide outrage following the RG Kar case, which raised serious questions about public safety and policing in the state.

Sharpening his attack, the Prime Minister described the current situation as a period of “jungle raj” and called for the establishment of what he termed good governance under the BJP. Invoking social reformer Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, he appealed to women and youth in Bengal to become agents of change and raise their voices for a safer and more accountable system.
