Political Tension Rises In Bengal After Alleged Abuse Of TMC Woman.

April 18,2026:Abhishek Banerjee, a senior leader of the TMC, alleged that BJP supporters abused a TMC woman worker in Paschim Medinipur district, intensifying concerns over election related violence in West Bengal. 

According to Abhishek Banerjee, the incident occurred in the presence of the victim’s two-year-old daughter. He described the act as “heinous” and called for immediate action by the Election Commission of India to ensure strict action against those who are responsible.

Police have said that an individual has been arrested in this case, while they are still trying to find and catch the others named in the FIR. Officials have not yet shared full details about who the accused individuals are.

Abhishek Banerjee also said that some of the accused were earlier members of the Communist Party of India  and later joined BJP. He also strongly criticised Union Home Minister Amit Shah, questioning his statements about law and order during the election period.

Incidents like this have once again made political violence and women’s safety major issues in the state’s election discussions. However, BJP has not issued an official detailed response to the allegation so far.
