Mary Kom’s Dispute with Ex-Husband Turns Public,  Drawing National Attention

Mary Kom, popularly known as Magnificent Mary, a six-time boxing world champion and an Olympic bronze medallist is currently at the center of one of the most talked-about personal controversies involving a prominent sports figure in India.

Earlier this week, her divorce from Karung Onkholer (Onler), finalized in 2023, took a sharp and public turn after months of silence on the reasons behind their separation. Mary Kom has blamed Onler for financial betrayal, alleging that he cheated her out of crores of rupees earned during her career, took loans in her name, mortgaged her property, and transferred assets without her consent.

In response, Onler has strongly denied these claims and launched his own accusations, alleging that Mary Kom was involved in extramarital relationships during their marriage. According to him, these alleged relationships date back over a decade, including involvement with a junior boxer in 2013 and another individual associated with her boxing academy. Onler claims to have WhatsApp messages as proof of these alleged affairs.

Onler’s Counter-Claims:
Onler has denied any wrongdoing regarding money and instead accused Mary Kom of infidelity, claiming she had relationships during their marriage. He has challenged her to provide evidence for her accusations and insisted that his current financial situation contradicts her fraud claims.

Mary Kom and Onler were married for over 20 years and share four children. The divorce was confirmed by Mary Kom in 2025, and she has consistently denied rumors of new romantic relationships linked to the split prior to recent interviews.
