PM Modi Leads ‘Shaurya Yatra’ at Somnath, Honours Temple’s Brave Defenders

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the second day of his Gujarat visit led the grand ‘Shaurya Yatra’at Prabhas Patan, organised as part of the Somnath Swabhiman Parv, to honour the warriors who protected the Somnath Temple through centuries of history.

The ceremonial procession featured 108 horses and witnessed the participation of thousands of devotees from across the country. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi accompanied the Prime Minister during the yatra.

Along the route, people showered flowers and raised chants of “Har Har Mahadev” as the Prime Minister greeted the public.

The procession travelled from Shankh Circle to Hamir Singh Circle, where artists from various states showcased cultural performances reflecting India’s rich and diverse heritage. The event was described as a powerful expression of national unity under the theme of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.

During the programme, the Prime Minister paid floral tributes at the statue of Veer Hamirji Gohil, the valiant prince of Lathi who laid down his life while defending the sacred Shivalinga against invading forces. PM Modi also offered prayers at Somnath Mahadev, paying homage to the countless warriors who sacrificed their lives in defence of the revered temple.
