Dhurandhar Part 2: What to Expect from the Sequel

Entertainment Desk | December 12, 2025
Bollywood gets a few films each year that do well, some that surprise, and once in a long while, a film that hits like a pulse across the country. Dhurandhar seems to have landed in the third category. Released on December 5, the film has grown from a much-talked-about spy thriller to a full-blown cultural moment, pulling crowds into theatres in a way the industry hasnโt seen all year.
The box office figures alone tell a dramatic story. The film opened strongโaround Rs 28 crore on day oneโand then soared through the weekend, crossing the Rs 100 crore mark in its first three days. What followed was even more surprising: the weekday collections didnโt fall off a cliff. Instead, audiences kept showing up, and by the sixth day the film had crossed Rs 180 crore in India, with the worldwide collection climbing past Rs 220 crore.
But numbers only explain part of the chaos around Dhurandhar. The people behind the filmโespecially the actorsโhave responded in ways that feel raw, relieved, and genuinely moved.
Ranveer Singh, who carries the film on his shoulders, has been unusually emotional in interviews. Crew members say he spent months preparing for the role, and he admitted this was one of the toughest characters he has taken on. When asked about the overflowing theatres, he simply said, โIโve given a lot of myself to this one. Seeing people connect with itโitโs overwhelming.โ
His wife, Deepika Padukone, publicly called him a โchameleon.โ She said she was proud of how completely he disappeared into the character. Her reaction isnโt the usual promotional politeness; it felt personal, almost protective, reflecting how intense Ranveerโs transformation was.
R. Madhavan, who plays the IB chief, shared that he sat in the theatre anonymously on opening day just to hear the audience react. โThere were moments when people leaned forward in their seats,โ he said later. โAs an actor, you wait for that energy. This film gave me that.โ
Arjun Rampal opened up about shooting one of the filmโs most disturbing sequences, calling it โthe hardest moment of my career.โ He said there were days he went home and couldnโt switch off the characterโs mindset. The praise heโs receiving now seems to mean more to him because of how heavy the performance was.
Even actors outside the film have responded. Hrithik Roshan wrote that while he โmay not agree with the politics,โ the film still moved him. Akshay Kumar described it as โa gripping, sharp punch of a movie,โ the kind that reminds filmmakers why theatrical cinema still matters.
Of course, it hasnโt all been smooth sailing. The ban in several Gulf countries triggered debates about representation, politics, and artistic freedom. But even that conversation, loud as it is, has only made the film more present in the public consciousness.
Whatโs clear now is that Dhurandhar has become more than a releaseโit has become an experience shared across social media timelines, theatre lobbies, and living room discussions. In a year filled with cautious expectations, this is the film that broke through, largely because the team behind it poured themselves into it.
And with talk of a sequel already gathering momentum, Dhurandhar might just be the beginning of a larger cinematic worldโone built with grit, risk, and the kind of ambition Bollywood hasnโt embraced in a while.

Sequel and Franchise Prospects
The blockbuster success of the Dhurandhar film has already sparked anticipation for Dhurandhar Part 2, slated for release in 2026. Audiences are eager to see Ranveer Singh reprise his role, alongside the original ensemble cast. The sequel promises to continue the high-stakes espionage. It will expand the cinematic universe. The film will build on the storylines that made the first Dhurandhar film a nationwide sensation.
Following the success of the Dhurandhar film, director Aditya Dhar confirmed that Sara Arjunโs character will play a bigger role in Dhurandhar Part 2. He praised her talent and the safe, supportive environment on set that allowed the cast to excel.
Actors are equally excited: R. Madhavan teased more screen time and strategic depth for his character. Rakesh Bedi revealed that post-production is underway, and the sequel is scheduled for March 19, 2026.
Fans can expect bigger action, extended espionage storylines, and expanded roles for the original ensemble in the next chapter of the franchise.
