IIT Kharagpur to Open First Offshore Outreach Centre in Houston,USA

To strengthen international footprint, the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT-KGP) is set to establish its first offshore outreach centre in Houston, Texas, USA. This milestone marks a major step in the institute’s efforts to expand global collaboration and academic engagement.

Speaking about the initiative, IIT-KGP Director Suman Chakraborty said, “Today’s discussion on the Houston initiative marks the beginning of a strategic exploration to expand our global engagement. It reflects our journey, our aspirations and India’s Trust in IIT Kharagpur’s Vision for the future”.

The new centre is expected to serve as a hub for research partnerships, alumni networking, industry collaboration, and student outreach in North America. 

IIT-KGP aims to leverage this platform to enhance innovation, strengthen global ties, and promote academic excellence on an international stage.

The Houston outreach centre represents not only a new chapter for the institute but also a step forward in showcasing India’s growing educational and technological influence worldwide.
