Tensions flare up again on Jadavpur campus after argument over hand-holding turns into beating
Kolkata : Jadavpur University is in turmoil again. On Sunday evening, a student and a girl were walking hand in hand on the campus. Allegedly, at that time, some students taunted them – “Is this a place to make love?” A heated argument started around the remark.
The argument quickly escalated into a fight. The accused allegedly pushed and beat the student violently. The sudden incident created panic among the students in the vicinity. Many rushed to stop the situation.
After the incident, new questions have started to arise about security on campus. Student organizations have alleged that the security system at the university has been weak for a long time, which is taking advantage of the repeated incidents.
The university authorities said that an investigation has been initiated based on the complaint and strict action will be taken against the culprits. The atmosphere of unrest on the Jadavpur campus has intensified after several recent incidents, raising concerns among students and parents.
