Influencer Orry Seeks More Time After Missing Mumbai Police Summons in Drugs Case Inquiry

This November started with drawing everyone’s attention to Mumbai’s ongoing narcotics investigations. Social media personality Orhan Awatramani aka Orry, who is famous for being often seen with famous bollywood celebrities at public events and private gatherings, was summoned by the Mumbai Police Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) for questioning in a drugs case. However, despite being asked to go to the ANC unit of Ghatkopar at the scheduled time, Orry did not turn up. On behalf of him his lawyer informed the authorities that he will only be able to come to ANC regarding inquiries after 25th of November. The police have been requested to consider him in this matter and take further steps based on the investigation’s requirements.

According to officials connected to the probe, Orry’s name cropped up during the interrogation of Mohammed Salim Mohammed Suhail Shaikh, commonly known as Lavish. He was recently deported from Dubai and taken into ANC custody. Shaikh reportedly told investigators that he organised lavish parties in India and abroad, where narcotics were allegedly supplied. During inquiries, he named several well known individuals, including Orry, as persons who had been present at such gatherings. Police sources have clearly mentioned that the purpose of summoning these individuals like Orry, is not to imply guilt upon them but to verify or contradict the statements made by the accused. This step is part of a broader process which the ANC follows whenever a detainee names people connected, directly or indirectly, to an ongoing case.

The main case behind this inquiry dates back to March 2024, when a major drug manufacturing operation got uncovered by the Mumbai Police in Sangli, Maharashtra. From there officers seized more than 126 kilograms of mephedrone (MD). This is worth nearly ₹252 crore, as reported by Hindustan Times. The deportation of Shaikh and his statements added a celebrity linked dimension to the inquiry, which made the police issue summons to verify claims, examine communication trails, and trace any possible links to the distribution chain.

As of now, the ANC has not indicated any direct evidence suggesting Orry’s involvement beyond the statements made by the accused. Officials mentioned that the inquiry is procedural, and that each person named will be questioned to ensure clarity in the investigation. Still now Orry has not commented on this matter publicly, and his legal representative has communicated his request to the authorities. The police are expected to review this request in accordance with legal protocol and the investigative timeline. As with similar cases, the next course of action will depend on his cooperation, the evidence found, and the overall progress of the probe.
