Sydney, October 26 : India’s ODI vice-captain Shreyas Iyer has been admitted to a hospital in Sydney after sustaining a rib injury while fielding during the third ODI match against Australia.
According to reports, Iyer injured his left rib while attempting a catch in the outfield. He was immediately taken off the field and later admitted for medical evaluation. Initial assessments suggest that he may be sidelined for at least three weeks, though scans are still awaited to determine the full extent of the injury.
The setback puts Iyer’s participation in the upcoming South Africa series, scheduled to begin on November 30, in serious doubt.
