Chaos in Bengal Assembly: BJP Chief Whip Dragged Out as Mamata Slams ‘Vote Chor’ BJP

Kolkata, Sept 4 – The West Bengal Assembly on Thursday witnessed unprecedented chaos as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a scathing attack on the BJP, branding it “anti-Bengali” and accusing it of being a “party of vote thieves.”
Banerjee, speaking during a discussion on a government resolution highlighting alleged atrocities against Bengali migrants, alleged that the BJP was “a party of the corrupt and the biggest dacoit party.” She also recalled recent incidents in Parliament, accusing the BJP of “using CISF to harass our MPs.”
The uproar intensified when BJP chief whip Shankar Ghosh was suspended for the rest of the day by Speaker Biman Banerjee for creating disruptions. BJP legislators raised slogans, demanding to know why Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari had been suspended earlier on September 2.
When Ghosh refused to leave the House, marshals were called in, leading to a dramatic scene where he was dragged out. He fainted during the scuffle and was rushed to hospital.
As Mamata Banerjee continued her speech, opposition MLAs shouted slogans, prompting counter-sloganeering from treasury benches. The repeated clashes forced multiple adjournments of the session.
The Chief Minister condemned the opposition’s “unparliamentary conduct,” asserting that the BJP was attempting to derail discussions on issues concerning the “rights and safety of Bengali migrants.”
