IndiGo about the situation

A IndiGo official highlighted on the situation and said “We are aware of an incident of unruly behaviour onboard IndiGo flight 6E 6571 operating from Delhi to Kolkata on 01 September 2025. One of the customers onboard, under the influence of alcohol, misbehaved with the cabin crew and disturbed fellow passengers. In line with established protocols, the crew declared the customer unruly and handed him over to security upon arrival. The relevant authorities also received a formal complaint.“

The airline company also added that “zero-tolerance policy towards any form of disruptive or abusive conduct and remains committed to ensuring a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all customers and crewโ€.

The traveler, however, denied the accusations and filed a lawsuit against the airline in response.

What was the incident about?

The report stated that a brawl broke out between the passenger and the crew members of the IndiGo flight 6E 6571 travelling from Delhi to Kolkata, and both parties filed complaints against one another for distributing pamphlets, drinking beer on board, and shouting a religious phrase.

According to a source, the flight was trapped in the New Delhi parking bay after a three-hour delay brought on by operational issues.

The crew reported that the passenger was a lawyer by profession, who started the main problem in the flight. On the other hand, the passenger filed a complaint of harassment and poor airline service by the crew members.

The complaint claims that the passenger in seat 31D boarded the plane drunk and started requesting that other passengers chant “Har Har Mahadev.” He allegedly tried to hide a bottle of soft drink after takeoff and smelled of alcohol when discovered. When the cabin crew questioned him, he reportedly consumed the drink in haste. When they arrived in Kolkata, the security guards received the flyer.

On the other hand, the passenger claimed that he had declared that he hadn’t taken any drink during the journey and greeted the crew with “Har Har Mahadev” without any religious connotations. He said that he had the purchase receipt to show that he had a beer at the Delhi airport before to boarding.
