Temple Robbery Reveresed: Stolen Jewelery Retrived, Trio arrested in Bidhanagar
Kolkata, August 31, 2025 – In a major breakthrough, Kolkata Police busted a fake central agency racket operating in the city and arrested six individuals involved in the scam.
Fake Agents Targeting Businessmen
According to officials, the accused posed as members of a central investigative agency and targeted businessmen and high-profile individuals. Victims were allegedly threatened with “raids” and legal consequences unless they paid hefty sums of money.
Seizure of Fake Documents
During the raid, police recovered:
Forged identity cards
Fake seals and letterheads
Walkie-talkies and official-style gadgets
Documents used to threaten and extort victims
These items were used to create an illusion of authenticity, making the racket appear legitimate.
Wider Network Suspected
Police sources revealed that the gang had been operating for several months and may have links outside Kolkata as well. Investigators expect more victims to come forward in the coming days.
The arrested individuals have been booked under cheating, forgery, and criminal conspiracy. Authorities are now probing deeper into the possibility of a larger syndicate.
Police Statement
A senior officer stated:
> “This racket exploited the fear of law enforcement. Citizens must remain alert and verify the credentials of anyone claiming to represent a central agency.”
Final Note
This case has once again highlighted how fraudsters misuse the name of central agencies to dupe innocent people. Kolkata Police has urged residents to report any suspicious activities immediately.
