Office goer furious about packed metro : Rant video goes viral on social media

Instagram influencer goes viral as she shows a video of people boarding the packed train at the metro station.

The clip opens with Basu gesturing towards the croweded train and comments ” This is what you get when you elect your government. They build a new metro line but won’t repair this one. All because of their rubbish, people like us can’t even go to work. New metro has opened in Saltlake apprently! “

After facing the backlash online

In the new caption, she clarifies that frequent metro users already know the actual issue here. All the Blue Line trains are 20 minutes behind. That is the problem she is mainly complaining about. She adds that rush hour traffic is inevitable, but when trains arrive only every 20 minutes, both the management and the government should be questioned.

Pushing back against criticism online, she retorts, ” The metro is under the central government– I know– no need to mansplain just because you can. The metro is inside the territory of the state government, too, so both are equally to blame. Just because I look, you know, elite enough, and I speak in English, triggered you so much? Please channel the same energy into questioning the management. ”

Basu’s post resonated with daily commuters who undergo the same delays and jam-packed Blue Line trains. She did sparked controversy, people criticizing her and advising her to not travel by public transportation if she cannot handle crowds, but they are failing to see the bigger picturehere. Kolkata needs better and smoother metro services that operates more consistently and efficiently. Metro has been the daily transportation for thousands of office commuters who rely on it daily, the constant delays and crowded coaches are not just a nuisance, they are an issue that people desperately want to see addressed.

As of now, The Kolkata Metro is operated by the Ministry of Railways under the Central Government. The Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (KMRC), which falls under the same ministry, manages parts of the metro network and expansion projects.
