iPhone snatched from car by Thak-Thak Gang in Kurla

The notorious Thak-Thak Gang struck again near Kurla, snatching an iPhone from inside a car in just seconds. The victim, a resident of Navi Mumbai, drove over the SLR bridge when he suddenly became the target of this well-known gang.

The entire incident unfolded within moments and was caught on the car’s dashcam. The video shows one man knocking on the driver’s window to distract the driver, while another knocked on the passenger side. In that brief moment of confusion, a third person reached inside and grabbed the iPhone lying on the seat. By the time the driver reacted, the thieves had already fled.

The driver immediately filed an FIR at the Vinoba Bhave Police Station. Now, investigators are reviewing the CCTV footage to trace the suspects and understand their route after the flashy theft.

This gang, known for using distraction tactics—like fake knockings or punctured tyres—to trick drivers, typically targets vehicles at traffic signals or while moving slowly. They create just enough confusion to strike quickly and vanish.

Mumbai Police have issued a warning to residents: stay alert at traffic spots. They advise drivers not to roll down windows or open doors for strangers who knock or call attention, even if it looks urgent or harmless.
