Big Meeting on Pending DA on September 12: Grant-in-Aid Employees Hope for Relief

A major meeting on the pending Dearness Allowance (DA) of West Bengal government employees will be held on September 12 in New Delhi. The meeting will take place at 5 PM as per the direction of the Supreme Court.
A monitoring committee headed by retired Supreme Court judge Justice Indu Malhotra will meet the lawyers and representatives of the parties involved in the DA case. Representatives of the Sangrami Joutho Mancha will also attend the meeting.

Sangrami Joutho Mancha convenor Bhaskar Ghosh said the organisation has been demanding an opportunity to directly present its views before the monitoring committee. The organisation had earlier submitted an affidavit to the committee on May 5, 2026, explaining its position on how the pending DA should be calculated.

According to Ghosh, the organisation’s main focus will be on the demands and problems of employees working in grant-in-aid institutions. These employees have not received any part of their pending DA, while some other employees have already received payments.
The issue of why grant-in-aid teachers and other employees have been completely left out was also raised during the last Supreme Court hearing.

Ghosh and lawyer Abhijit Upadhyay will represent the Sangrami Joutho Mancha at the September 12 meeting. The organisation has said that resolving the problems of grant-in-aid employees will be its main priority.
Grant-in-aid employees are now waiting to see whether the monitoring committee’s meeting will finally bring a solution to the long-pending DA issue.
