Gujarat Horror: Man Arrested for Raping Sister at Knifepoint, Branding Her with Bidi

In a shocking case of sexual violence, a 29-year-old man has been arrested for repeatedly raping his younger sister at knifepoint and subjecting her to physical torture in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district.

According to police, the accused, a married driver and father of one, allegedly raped his 22-year-old sister twice within six weeks—on July 13 and again on August 22. During the second assault, he reportedly branded her right thigh with a lit bidi.

The survivor, who lives with her parents and the accused, mustered courage after the second incident and called the 181 women’s helpline. She was taken to the police station, where she filed a formal complaint.

Investigations revealed that the survivor had been in a consensual relationship with a man from her village for three years. The accused, aware of the relationship, allegedly used it to blackmail her before committing the assaults.

“The accused committed the crime first when his wife was away at her parents’ house, and the second time when she had stepped out for some work,” said investigating officer D. P. Khambhla.

Police have seized the knife and the clothes worn during the offences. Both the victim and the accused have undergone medical examinations, and their statements have been recorded.

The accused has been booked under Sections 64(2)(F)(M) and 115(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.
