Trump Gives High Praise to Alaska Summit with Putin
16 August-Kolkata, India: US President Donald Trump declared and rated the global talks in Alaska a ’10 on 10′ rating after concluding the joint press conference with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin. According to the press conference, the US President stated in an exclusive interview with Fox News that he had a “very good” meeting with Putin and that his only goal is for people to stop dying.”
Trump on his meeting with Putin
After meeting his Russian counterpart, the US President said, “We had a very good meeting today, but weโll see. You have to get a deal. We agreed on a lot of points. I want to see people stop dying.” Trump further added, โLook, as far as Iโm concerned, thereโs no deal until thereโs a deal. But we did make a lot of progress.”
The US President also added that he was pleased to hear his Russian counterpart, Putin, state that โIf he were the president, he would have never allowed the Russia-Ukraine war to happen.โ Despite his optimistic evaluation of the meeting, Trump declined to disclose the โareas of disagreementโ between himself and Putin.
The US President ended the interview by saying “No, Iโd rather not. I guess somebodyโs gonna go public with it, theyโll figure it out. But no, I donโt want to do that; I want to see if we can complete it.“
Conflict between Zelenskyy and Putin
According to a news outlet, the US President Donald Trump made it very clear that he is now placing the responsibility for negotiating a ceasefire and truce between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
Trump stated that “Theyโre going to set up a meeting now between President Zelensky and President Putin, and me, I guess.”
The US President also assured that he will make sure everything proceeds according to plan and that the ceasefire process goes as smoothly as possible. Trump will then travel to Washington, D.C., after he boards Air Force One shortly after the meeting.
