Breakthrough Peace Deal: Iran to Reopen Hormuz, US Lifts Blockade

18 June 2026: US President Donal Trump and Iran’s Masoud Pezeshkian signed the agreement to end- the war as confirmed by the MOU Moderator Pakistan. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said “It shall enter into force with immediate effect” on Wednesday as reported by Associated Press.

Trump said that Iran was all set to prepare for the nuclear weapons but the US negotiated with Iran and stopped them. Iran was determined to use nuclear weapons “We went in to put out the fire” declared by Trump’s midlining the G7 Summit in Paris.

The signing of the MOU was first shared by French President Emmanuel Macron to end the Iran-US war at the Palace of Versailles in Paris. This  agreement focuses towards long lasting peace and also allows the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. It is a necessary step to curtail down the global energy crisis. 

The agreement calls for Tehran to, at a minimum, dilute its stockpile of highly enriched uranium and would waive but the permanent sanctions are not ended as reported by the Associated Press on Wednesday. 

The agreement caused the Strait of Hormiz to be open toll-free for two months and affirm a commitment to Lebanon’s territorial integrity in the face of Israel’s invasion against the Hezbollah militant group.

The United States and its regional partners will draw up a plan with at least 300 billion dollars for reconstruction of Iran. the final agreement will be endorsed by a binding resolution of the United Nations Security Council.
