World Para Athletics Championships: Mondo tracks nearing completion, deadline set for September 1.
India is on track to complete Mondo surfaces at competition and training venues by September 1, ahead of hosting its largest para-athletics team at the World Para Athletics Championships.

Devendra Jhajharia, President of the Paralympic Committee of India, stated on Monday that Mondo tracks at both the main and training venues will be completed by September 1.
For the first time from Sept 27 to Oct 5 India will host the World Para Athletics Championships at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, with new tracks laid at both the main and training venues.
Jhajharia quoted โ95% of the Mondo track work is done. The base takes time, but laying the Mondo top layer is quick”.
โThe base is ready, Mondo laying has begun, and everything will be done by September 1,โ he added. He said, โPreparations for transport, accommodation, and other logistics are on schedule,โ.
The goal is to host a successful championship and strengthen Indiaโs bid for the 2036 Olympics and Paralympics.โ
A celebrated para javelin thrower with two Paralympic golds and a silver, Jhajharia said the organizers have spared no effort to make the event para-friendly and top quality.
India is hosting the World Para Athletics Championships for the first time from September 27 to October 5 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, with tracks at the main arena and training venue recently re-laid for the event.
New Delhi will host the largest number of countries in this edition.
Jhajharia claimed that the New Delhi edition will witness the highest number of countries participating in the World Para Athletics Championships.
As per the sources, 107 countries have given the confirmation of participation. Thus, this will be the largest ever meet in World Para Athletics Championship in terms of number of participant nations. All the strongest countries like Brazil, Great Britain, China are taking part.
PM Modi will likely open the championship. He has been a strong supporter of para sports and athletes, offering encouragement before, during, and after major events like the Paralympics, Para Asian Games, and World Championships.
