Motherhood and the Power of milk Donation

It has been seen that mothers donated 5,036 litres of milk to human milk banks in the state from 2024 to 2025 providing nourishment to many children that was said by the state government on Tuesday .This life – saving opportunity has become essential nourishment to the premature babies and to the ill newborns, so that they could lead a new life .

Does Breast Milk Donation really matters for the newborn babies ?

Breast milk is very essential for newborn babies as it provides nutrition and antibodies to the newborn babies especially for the mothers who are unable to produce milk ,so this donated milks helps for them and it can play a huge role in lifesaver . Human milk banks plays a vital role in collecting and distributing to different hospitals and health care facilities.

The Real Impact of Donation

This donation encouraged more women to breast milk , many campaigns end educational programs were held across Gujarat. Healthcare professional people and NGOs are working hard to promote the importance of breast milk and provide support to the mothers who are unable to produce milk .

The human milk bank at Gandhinagar that was set up in 2021 saw 646 mother donating milk that helped 694 children . It was also said that SSG Hospital in Vadodara was certificate for high- quality standards , making it the first hospital in India to receive this certificate. About 13 lakh children are born in Gujarat every year , some of them are underweight . This children are very sensitive and cannot directly consume their mother’ s milk due to medical problem so this donated milk from other mother becomes saver for them .

It was also said that donated milk can be stored in a deep freezer at – 18 to -20 degrees Celsius for six months . It was also said even after feeding the babies many mothers produce excess milk such mother can donate there by depositing it in the bank , by the government .
