The Resistance Front: A New Face of Terror in Kashmir

July 21, 2025 – Kolkata, India: The US House Committee on Foreign Affairs has immensely supported the identification of The Resistance Front(TRF) as a major terrorist group that is also a part of the infamous terrorist group Lashkar-E-Taiba, and they are also responsible for the 2025 fatal attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which ended with 26 lives taken by the terrorists.

The committee delivered a clear and concise message to the TRF group by stating that “those responsible for the massacre of civilians will be held accountable. When you butcher civilians, you don’t get a pass—you get justice. It was a terrorist attack—simple and straightforward” The previous week, the US govt designated The Resistance Front(TRF) both as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) and a Foreign Terrorist Organisation (FTO).

Brian Mast, a representative and member of the the committee further issued a statement on this issue and said that ‘It is called like it is by President Trump. The designation is deserved by the Resistance Front, which is a foreign terrorist organisation.’

The Committee also attacked The New York Times, which headlined the Pahalgam attack and mentioned the perpetrators as “militants“. The members took the issue very seriously and condemned the NYT’s use of language on such a serious issue. The Committee reposted the article by correcting the mistakes, such as the word ‘militants‘ being replaced by ‘terrorists‘ written in bold red letters.

Marco Rubio, the US House Secretary, also highlighted some important points on the issue and declared a severe move on the TRF as a part of Washington’s commitment to combat terrorism and also President Trump’s request for revenge on the Pahalgam attack.

About the The Resistance Front

The Resistance Front(TRF) is a major militant group in Jammu and Kashmir that first emerged around 2019 after the Indian government introduced Article 370. Despite presenting themselves as a local and secular resistance group, the TRF is widely considered to be a part of the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba. The group is also responsible for many terror attacks on civilians, military personnel and minor groups, etc. The group was already designated as a terrorist group by the Indian government under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in 2023.

About the Pahalgam Attack

The Pahalgam attack occurred on April 22, 2025, when militants opened fire on a group of tourists at the popular Baisaran meadow in Jammu and Kashmir. The assault resulted in the death of 26 people, including several Hindu pilgrims and a local Muslim pony handler, while many others were injured.
