Mayawati Delhi Bungalow Vacated Over Security Worries.
May 27, 2025 โ New Delhi:
BSP chief Mayawati vacated her official residence in Delhi on May 20. The move came after party leaders cited persistent security concerns around the area. She handed the bungalow back to the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) within one year of allotment.

Mayawati Delhi Bungalow: Concerns Raised Over Security
The residence at 35 Lodhi Estate lies just behind the BSP central office. The area experiences heavy congestion due to a nearby school. Vehicles and people frequently crowd the street during school hours. BSP leaders stated this posed a serious threat to Mayawatiโs security.
She currently receives Z+ security. Her team must conduct bomb checks before each movement. However, school activities delayed this process and created a safety risk. The party decided relocation was necessary to maintain security standards.
BSP Seeks Safer Location After Mayawati Delhi Bungalow Exit
The BSP has begun exploring safer options. According to insiders, the decision was purely based on securityโnot political reasons. They confirmed that the Delhi Police and security teams were informed in advance.
The government allotted the bungalow in February 2024. It falls under Type-VII category, reserved for presidents of national parties. At the time, BSP qualified for national status and used the facility accordingly.
Political Implications of the Bungalow Move
The partyโs national status has weakened in recent elections. Still, BSP claims the decision has nothing to do with electoral setbacks. Mayawatiโs departure has sparked speculation among political observers, especially with ongoing debates about national party recognition.
Despite the move, BSP activities will continue from the adjacent central office. The party confirmed that no functions or meetings will be disrupted. It stressed that safety remains the top priority for the leadership.
Public and Political Reactions
Delhi Police mentioned they received no official complaints regarding the school issue. However, sources confirmed Mayawatiโs security team raised alerts in past weeks. No disruptions occurred during the relocation.
Several party supporters expressed concern but backed the decision. They agreed the current setup was unsuitable for someone under high-level protection.
Mayawati Delhi Bungalow Exit Marks Shift in Party Strategy
Mayawatiโs decision to leave her Delhi bungalow reflects growing pressure over security infrastructure. The BSP will likely pursue a more suitable residence as it prepares for future elections.
