IIFT Expands Global Reach with Inaugural Overseas Campus in Dubai: A New Chapter in Indian Education

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), a premier institution under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has announced the establishment of its first overseas campus in Dubai. It marks a historic milestone in India’s efforts to globalize its higher education sector. This initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’s vision of internationalizing Indian institutions and fostering cross-border academic collaboration.

What to Expect from the Proposed IIFT Campus?

The IIFT has launched its first overseas campus in Dubai, aligning with India’s NEP 2020 to expand global educational outreach. This will ensure their strengthening UAE-India ties. The campus offers tailored programs like an MBA in International Business, MA in Economics (Trade and Finance). In addition, there are executive diplomas, with admissions based on CAT/GMAT scores, group discussions, and interviews. Operating independently without diverting resources from domestic campuses, it awaits final UAE approvals to commence operations. This initiative mirrors India’s broader ambition to establish global educational hubs, following institutions like IIT Madras and IIM Ahmedabad, and underscores its strategic focus on leveraging education for soft power and economic diplomacy

Prospective students can apply online via IIFT’s portal, with admissions based on CAT/GMAT scores, followed by writing assessments, group discussions, and interviews. The Dubai campus is expected to commence operations shortly, with programs designed to address regional industry needs, such as trade policy and cross-cultural management.
