India Taliban Talks Begin With Jaishankar-Muttaqi Phone Call

In a historic first, India engaged directly with the Taliban government. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar spoke with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s Foreign Minister. The conversation marked India’s highest-level contact with the group since its 2021 return to power in Afghanistan.
