Tragic Death in Kochi: Chef Dies After Being Hit and Dragged by Car

CISF personnel arrested after allegedly dragging 24-year-old chef to death near Nedumbassery airport.

In a tragic incident near Nedumbassery, Kerala, 24-year-old chef Ivin Jijo lost his life following a road rage altercation involving two Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel. The incident occurred on the night of May 14, 2025, when Ivin was allegedly struck and dragged by a car driven by CISF Sub-Inspector Vinaya kumar and Constable Mohanan.

According to police, the altercation began when Ivin tried to overtake the CISF officers’ car. A verbal dispute followed, during which Ivin stood in front of their vehicle. Reports state the officers then drove forward, knocking him onto the bonnet and dragging him for nearly a kilometre. He sustained fatal head injuries and died shortly after falling from the vehicle.

The CISF officers fled the scene but were later apprehended and suspended from duty. The Kerala Police have registered a case under sections related to murder and are conducting an investigation, including reviewing CCTV footage and other evidence.

Ivin’s funeral is scheduled for May 16, 2025. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and calls for justice from the community.
