WAVES 2025: Mumbai to Host Global Summit Showcasing India’s Creative Power

India will host the first-ever World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) from May 1 to May 4, 2025, at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. This global event, led by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, aims to position India as a leader in the media and entertainment industry. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision drives the summit, focusing on creativity, culture, and innovation as key to India’s growth.
WAVES 2025 will bring together media CEOs, entertainment icons, and creators from over 130 countries to discuss trends, foster collaborations, and explore new technologies like AI, VFX, gaming, and virtual reality. India’s media and entertainment sector, valued at $29.4 billion in 2024, is projected to reach $36.1 billion by 2027, making this summit a vital platform for growth.

WAVES Bazaar: A digital marketplace connecting creators with global buyers and investors.
OTT WAVES Platform: A space for independent filmmakers to distribute and monetize content while protecting intellectual property.
Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT): A new Mumbai-based institute with Rs 400 crore funding for research and talent development in media and entertainment.
The summit will also feature the Global Media Dialogue on May 2 to promote international partnerships and address issues like digital piracy. With initiatives like WaveXcelerator for startups and masterclasses at CreatoSphere, WAVES 2025 will nurture talent and boost India’s creative economy, which employs 8% of the workforce. This event marks a bold step toward making India a global hub for content creation.
