Hyderabad: Mumbai Indians’ star pacer Trent Boult has lavished praise on Rohit Sharma, calling him a “world-class” cricketer who will be central to the team’s campaign in the ongoing IPL 2025 season. Boult’s comments come after Rohit delivered back-to-back half-centuries, including a commanding 70 off 46 balls in the team’s latest victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Boult leads bowling attack as MI dominate SRH

The New Zealand quick was instrumental in MI’s dominant win, dismantling SRH’s top order with figures of 4/26. His efforts helped restrict SRH to just 143/8. In response, Mumbai chased down the target in only 15.4 overs, lifting them to third place on the points table with their fourth consecutive victory.

Rohit Sharma’s timing perfect, says Boult

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Boult emphasized Rohit’s role in MI’s resurgence:

“Rohit needs no introduction. He’s delivering just at the right time and will play a huge role in the remainder of the season,” Boult said.

Hardik Pandya’s leadership earns praise

Boult also commended skipper Hardik Pandya for his leadership, calling him a “passionate” and “skilful” cricketer.

“He’s a great communicator and leads from the front. Playing under him has been a refreshing experience,” Boult added.

Adaptability key in IPL, says Boult

Having moved from Rajasthan Royals to MI, Boult spoke about the need to be adaptable:

“In IPL, no season plays out the same. You’ve got to want the ball and be ready for any challenge,” said Boult, who now shares the new ball with Jasprit Bumrah.

MI focused on momentum, not playoffs

Despite a shaky start with just one win in their first five games, MI have bounced back strongly. But Boult cautioned against complacency:

“Momentum has shifted our way, but IPL is unpredictable. We’re taking one game at a time,” he concluded.

With form returning to key players like Rohit and the team’s rhythm clicking, MI’s push for a record-extending sixth title is very much alive.
