Technician Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault of Air Hostess at Medanta Hospital

A 25-year-old technician named Deepak was arrested on Friday for allegedly sexually assaulting a 46-year-old air hostess at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. The incident reportedly occurred while the victim was admitted to the hospital’s ICU on a ventilator.

The air hostess was admitted to Medanta Hospital on April 5, 2025, for treatment. She alleged that on April 6, a hospital staff member assaulted her while she was in the ICU. According to her complaint, two nurses were present in the room but did not intervene. After being discharged on April 13, she informed her husband about the incident, and they filed a complaint at Sadar police station. A case was registered under Sections 64 (rape) and 68 (sexual intercourse by a person in authority) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Following the complaint, Gurugram Police Commissioner Vikas Kumar Arora formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Thursday, led by Dr. Arpit Jain, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters). The SIT questioned over 50 hospital employees, including doctors, and reviewed footage from more than 800 CCTV cameras. Through detailed analysis and a combination of human and technical intelligence, the police identified and arrested Deepak from the Sadar police station area on Friday.

Deepak, a native of Badhauli village in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, and currently residing in Gurugram, has been employed as a treatment machine technician in the ICU at Medanta Hospital for the past five months. He holds a BSc in Operation Theatre Technology (OTT) and is unmarried. During initial questioning, he confessed to the crime and revealed that he was addicted to pornographic videos, according to the police.

Dr. Arpit Jain, head of the SIT, stated, “After multiple levels of analysis, we identified the accused, and he has confessed to the crime.” The accused is set to be produced in court on Saturday. The police are continuing their investigation to ensure all details are thoroughly examined.
