Delhi Government Announces Minimum Wage Hike Across All Worker CategoriesApril 15, 2025 — New DelhiIn a significant policy shift, the Delhi government has announced an increase in minimum wages for workers across all categories, effective from April 1, 2025.

This move aims to provide financial relief to the labor force amid rising inflation.

Revised Wage Structure :

Unskilled: ₹18,066 to ₹18,456

Semi-skilled : ₹19,929 to ₹20,371

Skilled: ₹21,917 to ₹22,411

Non-Matriculate: ₹19,929 to ₹20,371

Matriculate but not Graduate: ₹21,917 to ₹22,411

Graduate and above: ₹23,836 to ₹24,356

This hike follows the government’s routine adjustment of wages based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

The last revision occurred in September 2024, and the new rates represent a continued effort to keep workers earnings in sync with living expenses.

Speaking on the matter, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi stated, “We are committed to ensuring that every worker in Delhi earns a fair and dignified wage. This increase, based on inflation data, is a small but essential step toward economic justice.”

The decision is expected to benefit thousands of workers across the unorganized sector, including those in construction, sanitation, and domestic services.

The move has been widely welcomed by labor unions and social welfare organizations.The Labor Department has also issued a notice to all employers to implement the new rates without delay.

Disobedience could attract penalties under the Minimum Wages Act, officials warned.

This wage adjustment not only reflects the city’s economic policies but also highlights the importance of preserving the dignity of labor in one of India’s most dynamic capitals.
