Trump card gets declined by Harvard, Obama lauds the decision.

Former US president Barack Obama has recently sided with his alma mater, Harvard, for rejecting Trump’s proposal. Trump recently proposed to limit campus activism, but this idea of Trump’s got neglected by Harvard. Barack Obama lauded this move of Harvard and advocated the freedom of students to do rallies.

A letter to Harvard.

Donald Trump has recently written a letter to the Harvard institution pleading to limit student’s rallies. Recently, Harvard has been the center for various kinds of protests focusing on free Palestine and climate change. Following this, the Harvard University president didn’t hold back. President Alan Garber straightforwardly rejected the idea of Trump.  Alan Garber wrote in an open letter to the Harvard community, “No government—regardless of which party is in power—should dictate what private universities can teach, whom they can admit and hire, and which areas of study and inquiry they can pursue.”

All praises for Harvard…

Following this incident, Barack Obama has supported the stance of Harvard president Allen Garber.  Barack Obama posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions—rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom while taking concrete steps to make sure all students at Harvard can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate, and mutual respect. Let’s hope other institutions follow suit.”

Meanwhile, Trump is not looking very happy with the Allen letter. Just after this incident, the US government announced more than $2.2 billion in grants. This university also tends to lose $60 million after defying Trump’s ideas. Previously, Columbia University was also set up as an example for defying Trump’s demands.

No funds allocated for universities

Various universities in the United States have been centers for protest against Israel during the Israel-Hamas war. The Joe Biden administration never raised any problem regarding that. But Trump’s soft stance toward Israel has put protesters and universities in a problem. Trump has recently ordered a pause in the allocation of funds for universities that host these kinds of protests. Universities like Pennsylvania, Brown, Princeton, Cornell, and Northwestern are on the radar of the Trump administration.
