Ghaziabad Horror: Food Poisoning Ruse Unveils Father’s Sinister Secret in Shocking Rape and Murder of 7-Year-Old Daughter

Ghaziabad, March 19, 2025 – A shocking incident has come to light in Ghaziabad, where a 52-year-old man allegedly raped and murdered his 7-year-old daughter. The accused tried to cover up his crime by framing a neighbor for food poisoning. The horrifying crime has left the community in disbelief and outrage.

Food Poisoning Allegation Leads to Arrest of Neighbor

The case began on March 12 in the Loni border area of Ghaziabad. The father, identified as Gyan Singh, reported that his daughter fell ill after eating ‘kadhi’ prepared by their neighbor, Shanti Devi. He claimed that the girl and six other family members suffered from diarrhea due to food poisoning. Tragically, the child passed away during treatment at GTB Hospital in Delhi.

Based on Singh’s complaint, police arrested Shanti Devi on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. However, further investigation revealed inconsistencies in Singh’s story. Other families who ate the same food from Shanti Devi reported no health issues.

Autopsy Uncovers Heinous Crime

The turning point in the case came when the autopsy report revealed that the child had been sexually assaulted and strangled to death. The findings contradicted Singh’s claims of food poisoning and raised suspicions about his involvement in the crime. The police shifted their focus to Singh, who later confessed to committing the heinous act.

According to police officials, Singh admitted that he was intoxicated on the night of the incident. Around 3 am on March 12, he took his daughter to another room while she was asleep next to her mother. He then raped her and strangled her when she started crying. To cover up his crime, Singh fabricated the story about food poisoning and falsely accused Shanti Devi.

Arrest and Legal Action by Ghaziabad Police

On March 18, police arrested Gyan Singh for rape and murder under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. During interrogation, Singh revealed that he had also taken his other children to GTB Hospital’s OPD on March 12 to create a false alibi. He claimed they were suffering from stomach infections to support his fabricated story.

The police have now filed an application in court to release Shanti Devi, as there is no evidence against her. Investigators have also seized Singh’s phone, which reportedly contained pornographic material.

The incident has left residents of Ghaziabad shocked and angered. Neighbors expressed disbelief over how a father could commit such a horrific crime against his own child. Many are demanding strict punishment for Singh and measures to ensure justice for the young victim.

As legal proceedings move forward, this case serves as a grim reminder of the importance of protecting children from abuse and ensuring swift action against perpetrators of such heinous crimes.
