AIMPLB holds protest against Waqf (Amendment) Bill, at Jantar Mantar.

New Delhi, March 17, 2025 – The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) staged a protest at Jantar Mantar today against the controversial Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024. The bill,

AIMPL Mwhich is currently under consideration by the Parliament, has drawn widespread criticism from Muslim organizations and individuals who argue that it undermines the autonomy of Waqf boards and encroaches on their religious rights.

The protest, which saw a large gathering of AIMPLB members and supporters, was led by the organization’s general secretary, Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani. Addressing the crowd, Rahmani stated that the bill is “an attempt to take control of Waqf properties and undermine the role of Muslim community in managing their own affairs.” He further emphasized that the AIMPLB will continue to oppose the bill and mobilize public opinion against it.

The protesters raised slogans demanding the withdrawal of the bill and expressed their concerns about the potential implications of the proposed amendments. They argued that the bill would empower the government to interfere in the management of Waqf properties, which are crucial for providing social and educational services to the Muslim community.
