Jain Delegation Appeals to German Ambassador for Swift Resolution in Ariha Shah Case

A delegation representing the Jain community recently convened with the German Ambassador, Dr. Philipp Ackermann, at his residence to express profound concerns regarding the protracted case of Ariha Shah, a 3-year-old Indian girl currently in foster care in Germany. The meeting underscored the pressing need for urgent intervention to alleviate the distressing circumstances surrounding Ariha’s prolonged separation from her familial and cultural roots.

Ariha’s plight has stirred deep emotions within the Jain community and beyond. Having spent over two and a half years in foster care, her situation is marked by profound instability exacerbated by the impending change of foster carer—her third transition within this brief timeframe, scheduled for May 2024. The delegation presented a compelling case for Ariha’s repatriation to India, advocating for placement with a Jain foster family—a proposal previously endorsed by both the Indian Foreign Ministry and Gujarat Child Services over a year ago.
