Harassment Drove Him to Suicide: AMC Student Takes Own Life After Abuse by Dean

Bengaluru, December 29: A tragic incident has occurred where a 19-year old student of AMC College, Nikhil, has died by suicide after allegedly facing harassment by the college dean.

Nikhil, a first year Hotel Management student at AMC College, was found dead after consuming poisonous pills kept at his home. According to allegations, he had been facing harassment by the college dean and administration for the past month. It is alleged that recently, the dean had used abusive language against Nikhil in front of his mother when she was called to the college. Upset over this, Nikhil consumed the pills at home.

He was rushed to a private hospital in Nagarabavi but could not be saved. Nikhil’s parents have filed a police complaint at the Chandra Layout Police Station and a case has been registered.

This comes a year after a similar incident in December 2022, when a 19-year old engineering student, Nitin, had allegedly died by suicide after slitting his throat inside a toilet of AMC Engineering College’s hostel. Nitin, who was a resident of Kerala, had joined the college on December 1 that year, as per Bannerghatta police.

The college authorities have so far not provided any statement on the latest incident. Further details are awaited as the police investigation progresses.
