West Bengal BJP Show-Causes Gangarampur MLA Satyen Roy Over Controversial Remarks Against Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar

The West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has issued a show-cause notice to Gangarampur MLA Satyen Roy over controversial remarks made by him about Union Minister and BJP leader Sukanta Majumdar.
The action against Roy was taken following a recommendation from the party’s disciplinary committee. The decision was also approved by West Bengal BJP president Shamik Bhattacharya, who directed the party to take action against the MLA for his remarks.

The controversy started after Roy appeared in a Facebook Live session and made several allegations about the functioning of the BJP in West Bengal. During the live session, the Gangarampur MLA claimed that some BJP leaders had close and friendly contacts with leaders of the Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Roy’s comments have created tension within the state BJP at a time when the party is trying to strengthen its organisation in West Bengal. His allegations about links between BJP leaders and the TMC have also attracted attention within the party.

The BJP’s disciplinary committee examined the remarks and recommended action against Roy. Following the recommendation, the state leadership decided to issue him a show-cause notice. The notice asks the MLA to explain his comments and clarify why disciplinary action should not be taken against him.
