Delhi Launches Four Tourism Circuits to Boost Global Tourism

Delhi’s new tourism circuits aim to turn the capital into a global destination.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched four spiritual and heritage tourism circuits on Monday, aiming to transform Delhi from a transit city into a destination city and strengthen its position on the global tourism map.

The circuits were launched at the Spiritual and Heritage Tourism Conclave 2026 held at Akshardham Temple under the theme “Delhi: The Capital of Spirituality, Heritage, and Experiences.” The initiative connects major religious, cultural and historical landmarks across the capital, offering visitors a more immersive experience of Delhi.

Key highlights:

  • Four tourism circuits connect major spiritual, religious and heritage sites.
  • Key destinations include Lotus Temple, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Agrasen ki Baoli, Purana Qila and Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah.
  • The government aims to encourage longer tourist stays, including overnight visits.
  • The initiative is expected to boost local businesses, tourism-related employment and economic activity.

Gupta said the circuits are not merely about connecting monuments but about allowing tourists to experience Delhi’s history, spirituality, architecture, cuisine and diverse cultural traditions. She described Delhi as a reflection of India’s “unity in diversity”, with communities from across the country preserving their traditions, festivals and cultures in the capital.

The government hopes the new tourism circuits will help showcase Delhi’s rich heritage to visitors from India and around the world while positioning the capital as a complete tourism destination.
