KKR make the most of home advantage as LSG bowlers fail to impress

The Kolkata Knight Riders didn’t start their campaign as imagined, as they were yet to taste their first victory of the season. While facing the LSG on homesoil, Ajinkya Rahane and Co. batted first and faced an early setback as Finn Allen walked away scoring just nine runs. 

As Prince Yadav secured the early blood, KKR came back to the game, depending on captain Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s clinical 84-run partnership. Though Mohammad Shami didn’t secure any wickets, his tight spell kept the KKR batters under pressure. 

After losing four wickets in just 111 runs, Cameron Green and Rovman Powell’s 70-run partnership in the fifth wicket gave the Knights a big boost. Despite picking up one wicket each through Prince Yadav, Manimaran Siddharth, Digvesh Rathi, and Avesh Khan, the bowlers managed to restrict KKR to a total of 181 runs.

LSG show composure to clinch a nerve-wracking win against KKR

Chasing the target, LSG had a shaky start, but fate had different plans. As Vaibhav Arora and Anukul Roy proved to be heavy, Ayush Badoni emerged as one of their biggest hope. With a stunning half-century, he steadied LSG’s ship in trouble.

After Badoni walked away scoring 54 runs, the KKR bowlers tightened their grip, putting the opponent on the edge. Amidst this, Mukul Choudhary came as a complete game-changer. Taking the big responsibility on his shoulders, the youngster proved to be heavy on the
KKR bowlers. 

Troubling the home side with big hits, he pushed his team towards their desired victory. With a stunning six, he completed the crucial half-century in just 27 deliveries, and LSG registered a 3-wicket victory. As Rishabh Pant and Co. took away the magical win, KKR is still looking forward to their first win of the season.
