India-Iran Diplomacy: 3 Million Barrels of Crude Reach Indian Ports as Two Massive Tankers Return

India has been able to achieve a great diplomatic triumph when attempting to secure the release of two giant oil tankers of Iran, with the situation in the Strait of Hormuz increasing tensions at the time. The ships arrived at the Indian shores with about 3 million barrels of crude oil through strategic intervention at high level. These two vessels are the Shenlong Suezmax and a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC). After release, they were able to dock at the Mumbai and Paradip ports respectively. This move has been regarded as a huge success of Indian diplomacy because the region has been marred with the instability in the seas and geopolitical conflict.
The successful salvage of the vessels is a major guarantee of energy resources to the refineries of India. Nevertheless, this mission is not over. The Indian government is in the midst of intensive talks with the Iranian government to have 20 more tankers that are either stranded or delayed in the area released. Through this continuous dialogue, India is keen on safeguarding its interests in the maritime trade and energy security in spite of the unstable situation in West Asia.
