US Withdraws from Over 60 International Organisations

According to a statement from the White House President Donald Trump has signed a proclamation withdrawing the United States from more than 60 international organisations, including 35 non-UN bodies and 31 United Nations entities.
The administration stated that the organisations promote “radical climate policies, global governance, and ideological programmes” that conflict with US national interests. The move followed a review of all international intergovernmental organisations, treaties, and conventions involving the US.
The White House also said that the withdrawals would end US taxpayer funding for entities that it believes prioritise global agendas over American interests or operate inefficiently. However, no specific list of the organisations was released.
Since the beginning of his second term, President Trump has reduced US engagement with several UN bodies, including the UN Human Rights Council, UNESCO, UNRWA, and has announced plans to exit the World Health Organisation and the Paris Climate Agreement.
