Iran Supreme Leader Blames US for Ongoing Protests

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has described anti-government protesters as “troublemakers” attempting to please the US President. His remarks came amid continuing nationwide protests that have entered their 13th day.
Iran has also submitted a letter to the United Nations Security Council accusing the United States of encouraging what it called “violent subversive acts and widespread vandalism.”
US President Donald Trump responded by stating that Iran was “in big trouble.”
The protests, initially sparked by economic grievances, have grown into the largest demonstrations in years. Protesters have called for major political change, including an end to the Islamic Republic, with some demanding the return of the monarchy.
According to human rights groups, at least 48 protesters and 14 security personnel have been killed during the unrest.
