India and Fiji Strengthen Agricultural Cooperation

India and Fiji held discussions today on 10 January 2026 to enhance cooperation in the agriculture sector and identify new areas of collaboration. 

Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan met Fiji’s Minister for Agriculture and Waterways Tomasi Tunabuna in New Delhi. During the meeting, both sides acknowledged the importance of agriculture and food security as key pillars of bilateral cooperation. 

Mr Chouhan has highlighted the long-standing relationship between the two countries, rooted in shared cultural ties and mutual respect.

The ministers agreed to establish a Joint Working Group to further advance cooperation. 

Discussions included collaboration in student exchanges, training programmes, capacity building, and technology sharing in areas such as small-scale machinery and digital agriculture tools. The talks also covered research cooperation, genetic exchange, and strategies to reduce food loss and waste.
