BJP Leader Shuvendu wants FIR against multiple DMs and BDOs for allegedly pressuring BLOs

The state is once again witnessing intense political tension over the revision of the voter list. On Friday, a BJP delegation went to the Election Commission to lodge a complaint with a bunch of allegations. The delegation was led by the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, Subhendu Adhikari. Speaking to reporters today, Subhendu Adhikari directly alleged that the names of infiltrators are being regularly included in the voter list, and the ruling party has an active role in this.

Shuvendu said that for the past few days, “millions of people” have been flocking to the border area and are identifying themselves by different names. Some say they are from Khulna in Bangladesh, some from Rajshahi, some from Satkhira, and some from Panchagarh. He claimed, “There is no greater proof than this. Many are even confessing to voting twice or thrice.”

The opposition leader further said that they have already submitted several information and complaints in this regard to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Barati. He alleged, “Mamata Banerjee has deliberately changed the demographic map of West Bengal. She is destroying the country.”

Complaints against administrative officials:

Not only that, Shuvendu claimed that during the revision of the voter list, a section of the administration including BDOs, DMs are pressurizing BLOs. Even some district magistrates of East Medinipur, Hooghly and East Burdwan have directly asked for OTP from BLOs, which is completely illegal. Shuvendu also claimed that a copy of the BLOs’ complaint has been handed over to the Election Commission. He questioned, “Why isn’t an FIR filed against those who are putting this illegal pressure?”

Demand to keep Hindu refugees on the list:

In this context, Shuvendu claimed that the names of Hindu refugees cannot be excluded from the voter list because their claim to citizenship is legally admissible.
On the other hand, he also alleged that “Bangladeshi voters are being included” by creating links to multiple districts with names like “Ismail Khan”.

Directly targeting the ruling party:

Subhendu’s allegations against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee are even more severe. He further claims that the Chief Minister has kept BLOs under mental pressure, withheld their remuneration files, and withheld the files of money for hiring people for data entry work.

The BJP leader has once again raised the allegation that fake voting was conducted by keeping the cameras off in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The clear message from the opposition leader is, “We will not give up again. We will not allow Mamata Banerjee to do illegal things in West Bengal again.”
