TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee Questioned by ED for school job scam case in West Bengal

TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office on Monday, 15 June 2026 about the Primary Teachers Recruitment scam case in West Bengal.
Earlier this month, the West Bengal CID questioned him about a fake i.e. Forgery of signature on documents, about appointing the leader of opposition in the State Assembly by one of the TMC MLA. The ED is looking into teacher recruitment irregularities in West Bengal. This case has been under investigation since 2022. Several political leaders and public officials have faced ED questioning, raids, and arrests as the agency’s investigation has expanded over the years.
The ED is still investigating the recruitment scam. Today’s question is about Abhishek Banerjee, a TMC leader. They would show him documents and digital records. They want to know about the alleged crime proceeds. The ED wants to find out who handled the funds. They want to know how the money moved between accounts and entities. They also want to know if the transactions were hidden. “Our focus is on the money trail. Who handled funds, how they moved across accounts and entities, and whether these transactions were layered to conceal their origin,” one of the officers said.
