Mamata Banerjee Urges United Opposition Resistance Against Victorious BJP Government
Former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launches Opposition unity call in Kolkata after BJP victory. She mobilises supporters near Kalighat residence during Tagore birth anniversary event. She demanded a joint Opposition platform against the expansion of the BJP across the state. She addressed a small gathering in front of the Kalighat residence in Kolkata.
Mamata Banerjee launched a renewed political journey for Trinamool Congress supporters. “I call upon all opposition parties including the Leftists and the ultra Left to come together to form a joint platform against the BJP,” Mamata Banerjee said on Saturday. She invited political parties for future talks against the BJP leadership. TMC will now fight from the opposition benches after ruling since 2011.
Suvendu Adhikari Seizes Bengal Leadership During Grand Ceremony
Honourable and respected Suvendu Adhikari replaced Mamata Banerjee as Chief Minister on Saturday. He attended a massive ceremony at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata. “She is no longer relevant in the politics of West Bengal,” Suvendu Adhikari said on Saturday. “I don’t want to comment on the statements made by the irrelevant people.” He made the remarks when journalists asked for his reaction to Mamata Banerjee’s call for a united opposition against the BJP government.
Mamata Banerjee attended a smaller Tagore celebration gathering in Kalighat. Her social media profiles reflected the closure of her long tenure. “Hooliganism is going on at places, bad elements have entered their (BJP) ranks,” Mamata Banerjee said on Saturday, while maintaining that her government never encouraged political violence after assuming power in 2011. “Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge spoke to me,” Mamata Banerjee said on Saturday. She claimed several Opposition leaders expressed solidarity after the election defeat.
