NIA Arrests Suspect Linked to Red Fort Attack

The National Investigation Team (NIA) has made a major arrest in the Red Fort car explosion probe. This comes as a significant breakthrough into the blast that happened near Delhi’s Red Fort on November 10.

The NIA arrested Amir Rashid Ali, a resident of Kashmir. The car used in the explosion was registered in his name, as stated by NIA. The agency says Ali helped plan the attack and came to Delhi specifically to buy the car. Reportedly, the explosion killed eight people, and at least 20 others were wounded.

The investigation classified this incident as a suicide attack. DNA testing also confirmed the identity of the driver who died in the blast as Umar Un Nabi. Umar, the alleged suicide bomber, was a doctor and Assistant Professor from Al Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana.

Further investigation into the probe continues in light of multiple leads. The sources said another vehicle that belonged to Umar has been seized. The agency also uncovered a wider ”white-collar” terror group. Other doctors were interrogated in connection with the module.

Police in central Delhi ramped up anti-terror measures to secure public areas and high-value targets. In connection with the broader conspiracy, NIA has widened its investigation across states.
