Hindu housewife, who was raped twice, now lives outside her village

A Hindu housewife (38) was raped twice in Amtali, Barguna. She and her family are in trouble after filing a case in this incident. She has taken refuge in a close relative’s house due to threats from the accused’s family. The woman’s husband, who has two children and a teenage son, is also afraid to go home. The victim filed a case on Saturday night and the police arrested the second accused. That accused was also released on bail on Wednesday. Due to this, the family is worried about their safety.

The village in Haldia Union is about 8-10 kilometers away from Amtoli Sadar. On Wednesday afternoon, after reaching there through dilapidated roads, a horrifying description of the torture inflicted on the housewife was found. The victim’s husband is a farmer by profession. The couple has two children and teenage sons. The youths who tortured the woman are residents of the same village.
The housewife was raped in her own house for the first time on the afternoon of October 23. That day, her husband and the boys had gone to the market. The victim, who had taken refuge in a relative’s house, said, “Saiful and Imran found me alone at home and tied my hands and feet. Later, they threatened to kill me and tortured me. I did not tell anyone about the incident due to fear of them and shame.”

It has been learned from the locals that Saiful Islam Howlader (25) is the son of Nazrul Islam Howlader of the same village. The other young man, Md. Imran Howlader (30), is the son of Shahid Howlader. Both of them are known as scoundrels in the area. There are allegations against them of various scandals involving women. They said that their family members are also of bad nature.

The residents of the neighboring village of Puzakhola also know the character of Saiful and Imran. A person who did not want to be named said that there are various allegations against them related to women. A few days ago, they had brought a woman from Barguna and engaged in anti-social activities. The locals are afraid to say anything against them.
As soon as the October 23 incident was over, the housewife was subjected to another round of harassment on October 29. That afternoon, the woman’s two sons went to work in the fields with her husband. Taking this opportunity, Saiful and Imran entered the house. They took turns raping the woman. This time, Imran’s younger brother Imraj Hawlader (22) recorded the rape scene on his mobile phone. While leaving, they threatened that if anyone told anyone about the incident, they would post the video on Facebook. They even threatened to kill her.
The housewife, crying, said, “I am afraid to go home now. They are very bad people. I have taken shelter in someone else’s house since the case.”

The woman filed a case against Saiful, Imran and Imraj at Amtali Police Station on November 1. That night, the police arrested the second accused, Imran. The victim was taken to Barguna General Hospital for a medical examination. On Tuesday night, police arrested the third accused and Imraj, who recorded the rape video, from Chittagong. However, on Wednesday, the second accused, Imran, was released on bail from the Amtali court. He is threatening to withdraw the case through his family members upon returning to the area.
The 16-year-old son of the woman who was tortured said, “I am in a state of panic.
I want the death penalty for those who are doing this bad thing to my mother.”

The victim’s husband said, “It’s scary to stay at home with two children. Saiful’s mother Piara Begum, wife Hamida Begum and Imran’s mother Beauty Begum are telling us to leave the house. They say, you are a Hindu (Hindu) woman.”
This reporter went to the house of Saiful, Imran and Imraj, the accused in the case, on Wednesday afternoon to get their statements. However, none of their family members were seen. According to the locals, they have not been staying at home since the incident came to light. They come home occasionally.
Amtali Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md. Saidul Islam is investigating the case. He said, Imran and Imraj were arrested after the case and sent to jail. Efforts are also being made to arrest the other accused. However, he heard that Imran was released on bail on Wednesday.
Police Station OC Dewan Jaglul Hasan said he was not aware that the relatives of the accused were threatening the family. He assured them that action would be taken if they complained about the matter.
