Protests Erupt at South Asian University After Student’s Alleged Gang Rape

New Delhi, October 17: Massive protests have erupted at South Asian University (SAU) in Delhi after an 18-year-old student was allegedly gang-raped by four men on campus. Students have accused the university administration of negligence, claiming that over three days have passed without any arrests or accountability.

Protesters have also alleged intimidation by authorities, saying they are being threatened with police action and suspension for demanding justice.

According to reports, the survivor had received threatening emails from an unidentified sender using an official university ID. The emails contained morphed obscene images and were sent just days before the assault, raising serious concerns about security breaches and administrative oversight.

Student bodies, including the NSUI, have demanded immediate arrests of the accused, suspension of responsible officials, and stronger safety measures for women on campus. Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women has sought a detailed report and urged Delhi Police to conduct a swift and impartial investigation.
